Kate leads the way in the care industry

2nd August 2021

As HELP's Community Relationship Manager Kate spends most of her time finding and creating job vacancies for our job seekers in the care industry. She is passionate about connecting organisations with qualified and enthusiastic candidates who love what they do. Over the past 3 years, she has worked with a number of organisations such as Centacare & Co.As.It. Community Services to successfully upskill and place HELP jobseekers.

Kate was kind enough to take some time out of her busy schedule to share her experiences and give us a glimpse of life as a Relationship Manager.

How long have you been with HELP?
3 Years

What led you to become a Relationships Manager?
I have always worked in the recruitment and training space but wanted to take the next step and play a more active role in connecting employers and candidates. My current position with HELP has allowed me to pursue my passion for the care industry and focus on aged care, disability services, and health clients. My experiences have helped me to appreciate the value of getting the right person for the job, especially when working with vulnerable people.

What does a day in the life of Kate look like?
My day is generally spent building strategic relationships with key stakeholders within the health and community sectors. Typically this involves developing and facilitating activities such as webinars, speed interviews, and upskilling opportunities to assist with the on-boarding of job seekers.

What’s the best part of the job?
The best part of my job is the relationships I build with employers. These relationships help me to better understand what type of candidates they need so I can match them with a jobseeker that is right for the job!

What makes HELP different from other employment and training services?
HELP has heart. We believe finding the right job for the right person has the power to change lives.  We have industry specialist Relationship Managers who work together with our Account Management team to provide strategic recruitment processes for our clients.

What advice would you give to employers who are currently having trouble finding the right people for the job, or are experiencing growth and expanding their team?
It is always good to open your thinking to new recruitment and attraction techniques.  Talk to one of our Experienced Relationship Managers - we will provide innovative recruitment strategies to help you get the results you need.

Is there a specific memory that stands out during your career at HELP that makes you say “wow this is why I do what I do” or “this is why I love my job”?
I remember working with one particular jobseeker who had struggled to get a job where she could provide for her family. With the support of our employment program, she was able to transition into paid employment with solid hours.  This job seeker came to see me with tears in her eyes, gave me a big hug, and told me how she loved her job and how happy this made her and her family.

3 fun facts about you....
I enjoy boating, don’t mind visiting a winery or two, and love to experience great restaurants with friends and family.
